Tips for better results

  • Compare multiple advertising offers before deciding – the lowest interest rate is not always the best option
  • Pay attention to the APR (Annual Percentage Rate) – it shows the true cost of the loan
  • Always verify offer terms directly on the lender’s website before applying
  • All offers shown on the site are advertisements – the final lending decision is always made by the lender

Use cases

Situations where browsing offers in one place helps

These are descriptions of common situations, not customer reviews. LuottoBotti publishes no user testimonials, no star ratings and no recommendations — the comparison is yours to make and the credit decision is always the lender’s.

A purchase with a known price

The amount and the timing are already clear, so the comparison should be based on the annual percentage rate and the total repayable. A low monthly instalment on its own says nothing about the price.

An unexpected cost mid-month

Urgency pushes people towards the first offer they find. Seeing the terms side by side makes it quick to check what a short repayment period and one-off fees actually cost.

Several open credits at once

With many due dates the overall picture blurs. Placing offers next to each other helps you see whether consolidating is worth considering or whether the existing agreements are better left alone.

A car purchase in the coming months

Financing is usually offered at the dealership. Comparing beforehand gives you a reference point of your own to hold the seller’s offer against.

A renovation whose scope keeps changing

A one-off loan and a revolving credit limit are priced differently. Reading both sets of terms in parallel clarifies which one suits costs that arrive in stages.

Seasonal financing need in a business

Business finance terms differ from consumer credit and are not covered by the same consumer protection rules. Browsing them separately keeps the two product types from being confused.

What the figures in an advertisement mean

Every advertisement shows the same basic details: the credit amount, the repayment period, the nominal interest rate and the annual percentage rate, known in Finnish as todellinen vuosikorko or TVK. The APR is the only figure that lets you place two offers side by side honestly, because it folds the origination fee, the monthly account fee and every other compulsory cost into one number. Two loans advertised at the same 9% nominal rate can differ by several percentage points once the fees are counted.

The second figure worth reading next to the monthly payment is the total amount repayable. A longer term lowers the monthly instalment but raises the total cost, because interest accrues over more months. The same €8,000 loan is clearly cheaper over three years than over seven, even if the shorter term feels heavier month to month.

Three numbers are enough for a first comparison

  • APR — the full annual price of the credit, fees included.
  • Monthly payment — whether your budget carries it even when other costs rise.
  • Total repayable — what the credit finally costs.

Write those three down for two or three offers and the choice usually makes itself. If you are new to the Finnish market, start with consumer loans, which are the most common unsecured product here.

The interest rate cap

In Finland the nominal interest rate on consumer credit may not exceed 20% per year. The cap applies to the nominal rate, not to the APR, so the APR can exceed the cap when the credit carries separate fees. Additional rules limit those other charges so the cap cannot be circumvented through fees.

What lenders check

Lenders assess repayment capacity from income, expenses and credit records. A residence permit and a Finnish personal identity code are normally required, and most lenders also expect a Finnish bank account. A negative decision is common and rarely comes down to one single factor. LuottoBotti plays no part in that assessment — the bot only displays advertisements.

Credit types at a glance

The table below gathers the typical amounts, terms and purposes. The figures are general market ranges, not an offer from any single lender.

Browse the credit types

Different needs call for different credit types. The list below explains in one line what each product is for, so you can move straight to the right comparison.

Representative example of the cost of credit

Every credit advertisement in Finland must state the annual percentage rate (APR) together with a representative example, so the price of the credit is visible next to the figures. The example below shows how the cost of a typical consumer loan builds up in practice. Read more in our guide on the annual percentage rate.

Representative example — illustrative figures, not an offer
ItemValue
Credit amount€8,000
Repayment period48 months
Nominal interest rate9.9% (fixed)
Fees includedorigination fee €0, account fee €5/month
Annual percentage rate (APR)12.3%
Monthly payment€207
Total amount repayable€9,936

The figures are an illustrative example, not a binding offer. The lender always confirms the final APR, fees and payment schedule in the credit agreement. Borrowing money costs money.

LuottoBotti’s role and responsible borrowing

LuottoBotti is an advertising service, not a financial service. LuottoBotti is not a credit institution and not a financial intermediary: we do not grant credit, we do not process or forward loan applications, and we do not make credit decisions. We do not charge users or lenders a commission on any agreement — the lender is always responsible for its own terms, pricing and decision.

Before applying for credit, assess your ability to repay calmly and, if needed, talk it through with a professional — for example an adviser at your own bank or the free financial and debt counselling service. Borrow only as much as you can repay, and read the credit agreement in full before signing.

Offers shown are advertisements. Links to lenders are marked as advertising and carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener". Consumer credit in Finland is governed by the Consumer Protection Act (kuluttajansuojalaki) and the Interest Act (korkolaki 633/1982), and is supervised by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority.
